Lost Odyssey Environmental VFX for XBOX 360

I got created all of Environmental VFX on the project with Unreal Engine3 combining with Material editor and Cascade. I designed and implemented the VFX such as smoke, fog, fire, spark, water splash, save point, magical FX and interactive event VFX. Developed with UE3 was huge challenge for me and VFX team as a first experience. The VFX style is kind of between realistic and fantasy taste. I aimed to design not only type of realistic VFX but also adding dreadful atmospheric tastes. As a result, Environmental VFX played an extremely vital role in terms of RPG battle, walking through field and cinematics event. Editing visualize node materials were too tricky and expensive at first but finally made it possible to built a lot of types of VFX variation for example blow. That makes me curious so far!

KingdomHearts Maleficent Last Sequence Green Fire VFX

This video from last sequence of Maleficent "Kingdom Hearts I" for Playstation2. The VFX has two of design and technical challenges. The first is design of green fire, the second is color blending with addition, alpha and subtraction. The first of challenge utilizing multiple fire flip book animation textures were great method to approach for green fire. The second to give high priority blending subtraction particle can express more evil to sequence.

KingdomHearts Sun Item Flare VFX

This video from "Kingdom Hearts I" for Playstation2. The event is that player approach for the solar wall, the VFX is triggered. The VFX burst just like the sun form wall with previous notice VFX. After that the solar wall transform into the moon wall. I intended to make massive volume of Flare in order to give player light attention. I also utilized range of worm colors to express good things have occurred. Integration with UV Scroll Mesh and Glow stuff provide the VFX good balance as a specific design I believe.
